Fig and Prosciutto Salad with Balsamic Reduction

People have been messily devouring figs since forever, which makes sense if you ever tried one fresh from the tree…

FIG SALADFig and Prosciutto Salad with Balsamic Reduction is as rudimentary as they come, but it tastes and looks like someone with some serious kitchen skills made it. You need to be delicate when putting it all together – too rough and it will get mushy – but it’s really as simple as throwing everything in a bowl and giving it a quick toss.

8 fresh figs, washed and quartered

6 thin slices of prosciutto roughly torn into large pieces

1 cup of bocconcini (little mozzarella) cut into about half-inch pieces

1 small handfull of fresh basil, torn into pieces

1 oz balsamic reduction

Cracked Pepper

Put all ingredients – except the balsamic reduction and pepper – in a large bowl and gently mix together using your hands (*Note: you want the figs to break down just a little – but don’t over mix)

Pour the contents of the salad onto a plate or shallow bowl

Drizzle with balsamic reduction, sprinkle lightly with pepper and serve
